THE FINANCIAL BILL
AND THE WAYS OF PARLIAMENT. (By Telegraph.—v Special to Daily News.) Wellington, Last Night, j Dawn was breaking when the memDers of the House of Representatives dispersed to their various beds tliis morning, after passing the Finance Bill through all its stages at one sitting. Just why the National (jovernment Insisted upon rushing the most important Bill of the session through in such a fashion was not apparent. The House had waited several weeks,, with a fair' amount of patience, for the appearance of the Bill, and then was required to ap? prove it within an hour or two of it's being circulated, and before members had been able to find time for more than a cursory glance at its* provisions. But Governments have a habit of doing business in this way, and as the Finance Minister had already made some conceseions to the opinions of members, as expressed during the Budget debate, and was not prepared to yield another point, the final result doubtless would have been the same. In any case the Finance Bill was passed by the Legislative Council this afternoon, and the end of the session is now well in sight. Members are expecting to get away abont the middle of next week.
