CHRISTMAS PRESENTS.
(EIOE THE TARANAKI TROOPS. Only three days remain for subscriptions to be given to the Mayor's fund for purchasing Christmas presents for the Taranaki soldiers at Gallipoli, and it is hoped the appeal will meet with a ready response, so that the comparatively small amount received up to the present will be considerably increased. Mr. W. J. Chaney, who i* acting as treasurer for the fund, has only received a few subscriptions, but lie has had many enquiries from people who wish to make up parcels for the hampers. Mr. Chaney attends an office next to Messrs W. J. Shaw and Co., in Brougham street, between two and three o'clock every afternoon, and subscriptions may be either sent direct to him or to the Daily News fund. The following subscriptions have been received by Mr. Chaney:— ,
