CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—lt was with pleasure that I read the able, though perhaps somewhat quixotic, letter that appeared in your columns on Saturday. "Subscriber" very forcibly and sarcastically hits the waster and shirker, who is too unpatriotic to assist the Empire in its present need, very hard, yet none, too hard. On the other hand, I was very much astonished and amused to read the letters signed "Frank Aroa" and "Honor to Whom Honor is Due" in answer to "Subscriber's" letter. These two correspondents should understand all they read before they rush into print and abuse other correspondents. Taranaki has always been noted for "Iron-bark pumpkins," and it would seem there are a few left yet.— I am, etc., ANOTHER SUBSCRIBER.
