AUSTRALIAN CLUBS GIVE UP PROFITS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, Sept. 28. The Telegraph says it is understood tliat it ha 9 been determined by those in authority that the number of racing days in New South Wales shall not be reduced during the currency of the war. One who is largely interested in pony clubs declares that an offer was made 'by the associated racing clubs to the Government to contribute £2OO for each of the seventy-two days of racing held annually to the patriotic fund, provided the racing days are not curtailed. In accepting the offer the Premier is said to have suggested that the money should be donated to the Allies Day Fund alone. Melbourne, Sept. 23. At the, annual meeting of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club the chairman stated that every meeting had shown a profit. The club had distributed £2»00 to various patriotic funds. The net profit for the year would also be distributed, making an aggregate of £3267. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB. There was a good attendance of members last night at the special meeting of v,\e Taranaki Jockey Club. It was unanimously resolved that all the net profits for the ensuing season should be devoted to the various patriotic funds, the division of the same to be left in the hands of the committee. As the profits of the Club last season amounted to, roughly, £I4OO, the promised donation of the Club is a very handsome one.
