HELP FOR THE SOLDIERS' HOSPITALS.

To the Editor. Sir,—Would you kindly allow me, through the medium of your paper, to assist those who, though willing to help, do not know what to give towards a case being filled for the No. 1 Stationary Hospital at Port Said? For the wounded soldiers any of the clothing, etc., enumerated in the list given would, I am told, be acceptable, also cakes and dainties of any description in sealed tins. We do noi wish the doctors or nurses to be overlooked, so would like, if possible, to send some special comforts for those hard-worked and overtaxed men and women, who are ao bravely serving their country. The following list I copy from one compiled by a special nurse now on duty in Egypt, one who thoroughly understands hospital needs. Trusting everyone will help in this -deserving work to the best of his ability, —I am, etc., M. E. HUGHES. Spotswood, 27/9/15. Flannel singlets, shirts, pyjiiina suits, flannel bed jackets, bed socks, socks, handkerchiefs (khaki), brushes and combs, tooth brushes and powder, hotwater bags, indelible ink pencils, writing materials, safety pins, pins, cotton and needles, rolls white flannel for bandages, rolls butter muslin, unlimited quantities of bandages, cigarettes, tobacco, cakes of soap, small soft pillows with pillow slips to fit, holland bag?, old linen, and any New Zealand papers, especially weeklies, books, and magazines. (A note attached says: "We cannot have too much or too many of these latter.") The holland bags are the same as those asked for by the Mayoress some time ago, about 18in. long by din. wide, with a draw tape and an inserted flap of calico on which the name of the soldier, whose effects arc emptied into the ba"' is put. °
