ITALY.
AUSTRIANS ENFILADED. " London, September t*. Mr. Donohoe, describing the attack against .an Italian entrenched position at Monte San Miceble, says mass after mass of Austrian infantry, under cover of terrific fire, was flung at the eastern slopes into a maelstrom of death. The advance did not exceed four hundred yards. The Italian guns, sweeping and enfilading the lines, tore holes in the ranks till all were killed. Prisoners complain there was no officer in the forefront of the fighting. Some aver that the Austrian army is desperately short of officers.
