PUNIHO ROAD.

To the Editor. Sir,—ln Monday's issue appear a few notes from your Puniho load correspondent. When a correspondent writes to the press you expect to get all the latest news from that district, but evidently "your own" is like Rip Van Winklebeen to sleep for a number of years and just awakened with a start. First he states that the Puniho road is now under the Taranaki County Council. Why, it has been so for 12 months! Then he says they have a daily mail service. This has also been going on for the last six months. He might also have stated that they had a telephone line, but perhaps he is not wide enough wake yet to see such small things as telephone wires. "Your own" then gives an account of a meeting of the Royal Arms cheese factories, at which, he states, there was a long discussion over an agreement, in which, he says, an additional clause had been added, and he further states that it is a mystery how the clause got there. Well, Sir, there was no discussion what" ever at the meeting over this clause. In all fairness to the proprietor and the rest of the suppliers, let me say that there is only one supplier who ever has anything to say about this clause in the agreement, about which there is no mystery. It was put in with the sanction of the suppliers and initiated by all of them, except two, of whom this dissatisfied supplier is one. It is a pity "your own" had not awakened from hi"s slumbers a wee bit sooner, and then he eoul 1 have attended this meetia* and not have got things second-hand. It seems to be the general opinion here that this dissatisfied supplier and "your own' are identical, and that it was only to air his imaginary grievance over that clause that he awakened from his slumbera.— I am, etc., FAIR PLW.
