A PURCHASE OF ACID. j By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, Sept. 23. The newspaper Globe, in connection with the purchase of sulphuric acid in America for the Government, urges a Parliamentary inquiry. It declares that the firm of C. Tennant and Sons was commissioned to purchase acid, but no attempt was made to obtain the acid in England. A heavy leakage resulted through a shipment of American acid in iron drums instead of earthenware carboys, and the arid damaged two of the transporting ships.
