THEFT OF LIQUOR. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Masterton, Sept. 23. At the Supreme Court, William James, for stealing liquor at Greytown, was admitted to probation for two and a half vears.
COUNTY CLERK'S* LAPSE. Levin, Sept. 23. In the Court this morning the Magistrate, Mr. Poynton, conimitteed H. K. Lodge to the Supreme Court for sentence qp three charges of fraud by omitting to enter particulars of £32 18a 2d, £lO 3s, and £«3 Is, amounts received for rates due to the Horowhenmi County Council. Accused pleaded guilty. The total deficiency amounted to £ll9 lis 10d, all of which has been paid back to the council. Bail was allowed in own recognisance of £IOO and two sureties of £SO each.
