ARCTIC EXPLORATION.

FARTHEST NORTH. THE NEW LAND. .New York, September 18. Ahe American Geographical Society is convinced t'hat new land has been discovered by Stefansson. It is situated 78 degrees west. One hundred miles of coast lino was discovered, with a long range of mountains twenty miles inland. The new area is further north than anv yet discoveied, and is near the Parry Archipelago. The surrounding ocean is comparatively shallow. This discovery disposes of Dr. Nansen's theory that the Arctic is surrounded by water, and that thero is little Irfnd north.
