GERMAN ROYALTIES.

DISCREDITABLE BOOTY. An Australian paper publishes a German royalty story •which 'helps to answer the often-asked question, What has 'become of the 'beautiful possessions of many wealthy Belgian people? The Debats—always admirably informed—published the statement of an irremediaible breach between the *€roini Princa of Germany and his wife. The Auto, a French sporting paper, gives a .version : of the motives of the quarrel which is all to the honor of the Crown Princess. Six weeks after the outbreak of warearly in September, that is—the Grown Princess received from her husiband a surprise present in the form of two large fumitiire vans crammed with looted objets d'art. The Crown Princess, who is a Russian on her mother's side, and is a woman of education and delicacy, was frankly disgusted by the gift, which she considered an outrage. She refused to take in the booty, and ran to her mother-in-law, the Empress, to complain. The Empress took her part, and expressed her indignation to her husband. The Kaiser merely laughed, and said that he thought his daughter-in-law rather overdid her scruples. But the Ka-iserin had the courage to stand up to her Imperial consort, and at last gained his grudging consent that the thofts of the Crown (Prince should not' be forced on the Orown Princess. fFhe booty was . accordingly divided up amongst different members of the Kaiser's suite. When, long weeks after, the Crown Prince returned to Berlin there was a terrible scene between him and his wife. The gulf that separates the royal couple has widened since tiien owing' to the flagrant and insolently paraded infidelities of the heir of the German Throne. .
