HARBOUR BOARD.

THE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the New (Plymouth Harbor Board was held yesterday. Present: Messrs J. B. Connett (chairman), Newton King, E. Dockrill, J. MoCluggage, 13. J. Hughes, J. Marx, E. Maxwell and 0. E. Belk-inger. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.P. # SHIPING AT THE PORT. The harbormaster (Captain W. Waller) reported that the arrivals at tho port for the four weeks ending the 11th inst. consisted of 23 steamships, aggregating 22,213 tons. The imports, including 1464 tons of coal for private use and 178 tons for the Railway Department, amounted to 8208 tons. The exports for the same period amounted to 610 tons, making a total of 6804 tons handled. The harbor inside and off the breakwater end was carefully sounded on the 7th and Bth inst. The approach to the Wharf maintains a good depth, there being not less than 20 feet at low-water spring tides, with the Miktotahi beacon and the east end of the wharf in line. Henderson) reported that for the four weeks ending on the 11th inst. the Paritutu dredged on 21 days, the net time being 185 hours. Thirty-nine and a-half loads, amounting to 15,800 tons, were lifted and taken to sea. At the eastern fairway cut nine days were employed in lifting 20'/ 8 loads, advancing 180 feet to a point 300 feet ahead of "the end of the breakwater. At the third basin cut 10 days were spent in lifting 11 loads, advancing 70 feet to a point 200 feet ahead of the end of the wharf. At tho western side of the fairway two days were occupied in lifting eight loads with the sand pump. The weather during the latter half of the month has been' rather unfavorable for dredging, and three days were lost through the range being too great. The third basin cut is still difficult owing to heavy boulders at a depth of 10 feet. The Thomas King worked with the sand pump on 17 davs (net time 148 hours) and removed 121 loads of sand, equal to 9680 tons, and was engaged for 9% hours in lifting 28 boulders from the basin. The diver and crew were engaged on eight davs in clearing boulders. The fitting of new boilers on the forty-ton and five-ton cranes has been completed. The report was received.
