KITCHENER'S NEW ARMY.
SECTION LANDS AT THE DAR DANELLES. "A section of Kitchener's new arm\ has just arrived ,he>« from Fn?)ami,* writes Sergt. Reg. Miller from the Dardanelles, under date July 22nd. "I have seen some of them, and, my word tlmy are a fine class of men—well Ujilt, healthy and strong. They have fresh, happy faces, and it is good to know them. They had heard in the Old Country of the splendid work of the Australians and New Zealanders at the first landing of troops here, and they arc lavish in their praise of tho colonial. All England, they tell us, is ringing with the doughty deeds of those noble boys who landed here last April. These men are Bplendid companions, and as happy as sandboys. War to them seems something in which they are required to do their duty to their utmost for their country, but in which it is essential to be as happy as the circumstances will allow. Anyway, they are never likely to get down-heart-ed. There is a sprinkling of vory fine Scots among them, and their humour is ■quaint. For instance, the Turks wero shelling the position where tile English Territorials were stationed. Some of the latter, including a Scotchman-, were on the beach when a shell burst near to them. In recounting the incident to us this lusty son of Scotia exclaimed, "Gad, mon, if I'd been struck dead, I eouldna' have stopped laughin' to save me life!"
