WDTTORA CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. The play-off for the championship of the Witiora Club took place yesterday afternon between V. Beal and J. Haslam, The weather was rather unpleasant; a heavy nrist prevailing throughout the afternoon, it being impossible at times to eee the ball land after a fair drive. The greens wore very heavy and .putting was made more difficult. The game | ended in a win for Beal by three up and two. Haslam took the lead and got a fair drive to tlio top of the hill, but Beal got into the hoUdw. Haslam was through the green in two, but it took him five to hole out, his opponent being one more. Beal got into difficulties at the second hole and Haslam won with | four. Haslam 2 up. At the next Haslam 'hit the netting and Beal got over the road but lay alongside a post. Both took six to 'hole out. Haslam foozled bis drive at No. 4 and Beal sliced his drive and his next, taking four to find the green. Haslam holed out in his fifth. Haslam 3 up. The next hole saw Haslam in the road and Beal Still in the paddock. Their second helped them on their way, but each took 6 to hole. At the six Haslam got a good drive and Beal a rather.poor one. Haslam was just through with hte second, but foozled his approach, allowing Beal to get a win. At the seventh both drove to the right and the balls lay together at the bottom of the gully. Haslam hit the Mil and Beal got well out and won the hole. At the coffin Beal found the green, but Haslam drove into the swamp to the left and found Ms ball unplayable. Haslam 1 up. Going home i Beal got a good drive away, but Haslam pulled his into the tracks., Beal was on in two and out in four and made the game for the first round all square. The next two holes Were halved, but at the 12th Beal approached close to the flag with his tlfird and was out in four, winning the hole, Beal, 1 up. lAt the 13th both got good drives but Haslam putted weakly, Beal winning the hole and making him 2 up. At the 14th Beal got well over the road, but Haslam landed in the gorse, but got well out. His approaches lost him the hole, At the 15th both were outside in two. Beal foozled his approach, but Haslam did not accept tiie opportunity, and it took him three more to put out, making another half. Beal got a magnificent drive away at the 10th, and Haslam played rather much to the left. Both wore on in three and Beal holed for five. A long putt was Haslam's only hope, but the attempt, though a good one, was unavailing, another half being registered, and thus giving Beal the honor of winning by 3 up and 2 to play. Beal's win was a very creditable one, for he is a comparatively new player. His seoond round was a very good one, his score up to the eighth hole being 36.
