ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DEATH OF DE. BATCHELOR. By, Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. Ai t!he inquest on tlie body of Dr. Ferdinand Batchelor, which was concluded this afternon, Senior-Sergeant Dart, repesenting the police, mentioned that two letters were found on deceased. One was written on August 16th, and the other was a hastily written letter, the date of which was not known, but it must have been written some time after August 24th, because it was on the back of ft letter bearing that date. They were the letters of a man who was very ill, and recognised that he was broken down physically; one whose spirits had suffered a good deal in consequence, and who was aware tbat his end was impending. In one of them ft" said good-bye to his family and friends. Evidently he felt broken down, and also felt the fact that owing to ill-health he had been sent bade from Egypt, and had to give up active life. The medical evidence showed that death was due to heart failure, and a verdict was returned accordingly.
