HOSPITAL BOARD.
Tiifi MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday. Present: Mr. F. C. J. Bellringer (chairman), Mrs. Doekrill and Messrs A. E. Sykes, E. Maxwell, M. J. MacJUj-iiolde, D. McAliiun, J. R. Hill, J. Brown. A. it. Haleombe, D. McDonald and {J. V. Tate. | WOKK AT THE HOSPITAL. I The nodical superintendent (Dr. E. Forty-one I ipcr.>.tions were performed. | OLD PEOPLE'S HOME, The matron of the Old People's Home (Mrs. A. Bayly) reported that everything had progressed favorably during the past month. The supplies had been good and the discipline excellent. There were no admissions, no departures and no deaths. There remained in the Home 31 males and 3 females. HEALTH RETORT. The health inspector reported:—l have the honor to report that during the past month there lwye been live eases of diphtheria, notified from Waitara and one from New Plymouth, also one case cf typhoid from Huirangi, and thorough disinfection has been carried out in all eases and at all premises, and full enquiries made and reports thereon forwarded to the District Health Officer at Wellington. i)isinfections ln.e also been carried out at two premises where scarlet fever had occurred in the Taranaki county. I have also visited Waitimi, Inglewood, Kaimata d ; itrict. W'aihi, and other places in the Taranaki county. The District Health ■ imcer .dsited the district, but more espc.ii.illv with regard to matters in connection with the site for the proposed free/lug works, ulso in connidion with the Wailara, waterworks, and also proposed and other matters in ilie district. The outbreak of diphtheria in the district appears tc be almost under control and ended, and I have visited all alleged cases that have came to mv .knowledge from time to time. ! ha.e taken samples untie: the Sale of Food and Dings Act of bread and milk and reported thereon to the District Health Olliccr. GENERAL. The matter of calling for tenders for supplies for the now hospital was left to the house committee. It was decided to advertise for tenders for furnishing the now hospital. Accounts amounting to £547 for the hospital and £lO7 for charitable aid were passed for payment.
