TAIHAtPE WANTS MORE GAMBLES. Taihape, Yesterday. A Union Jack sold at the laying of the foundation-stone of the Taihape Freezing Works yesterday realised over £3OO. A huge deputation waited on the Premier last night, asking for a widening of the law to permit gifts in aid of the Queen Carnival Wounded Soldiers' Fund to be disposed of by lottery. It was pointed out that they could so dispose of c-artheuware and dress, but not such things as motor-cars, and that it was unfair to stop the privilege others had had, because it would materially affect representation on the central executive, which was proportionate to the money contributed'. The Premier left by the midnight train for Wellington. WOOL EXPORT TO"AMERICA. Wellington, September 13.
