MOTOR BUS DESTROYED.

A MALICIOUS ACTION. ' One of tha Taranaki Motor Transport Company's big motor .buses was deliberately set afire late 01/ Monday evening. A bearing becoming damaged, the muchine was pulled up alongside the road, near the Arawhata-Road, tiiree miles on the New Plymouth Bide of lOptmake, dnrt the company's mechanic was telephoned for. He went out, with a spare bu«, and started repairing the damaged part, but had not finished when night came on. He left the machine, intehding to go out at daybreak, but at about 11.30 o'clock that night ftn~Opiinake motorist discovered the machine, aflro). in .fact, all the Wood work had been destroyed, The company's mechanic made an examination of the remain* of the machine, and- found that the benzine 'tank had been opened, and evidently fired, and also that his bag of tools had disappeared; Thero arc; grouhda for the belief that it is a case of deliberate incendiarism. The police were informed, and are making inquiries. The machine cost .£llOO, and thero was-an insurance cover upon it of £SOO in the Phoenix Office.

The Transport Company, are ordering another up-to-date bus, ami meantime will tiae .the reserve machine, Nejtweek, it hopes to have the first of'ita hixurirui nine-seater Cadillacs on the run.
