SOLDIEIiS' I'OOTWKAV!. By Telegraph.- i'ress Association. Wellington, Last Nlffht. Consideration was given to the manufacture of soldiers' boots by the members of the Wellington Operative Bootmakers' Union to-night, when the following resolution was adopted:—"That this meeting thoroughly approves the action of the Government in deciding upon tlie adoption of a scheme iVhich is lo provide uniformity of sample and standardising of lasts in conneotion with the manufacture of soldiers 1 march*»r? buots. It believes that tlie supplying of lasts, knives, and patterns-to nunuUu-Uirci'3 who desire to make such ■footwear is an admission that State control is essential for the carrying'out of the 'boot trade, and regrct9 that the Government did not start a Stttte boot factory, which would havo' ftlimlnated much of the cost now entailed in the supplying of footwear for the troops, and assurance that the material used would be of tho highest standard of durability,"
