Melbourne, Sept. 13.—Wimniu'.i, for Wellington. NOTES. The steamer English Monarch, 4947 tons, Captain Oxley, has been fixed to load at New York shortly for New Zealand and Australian ports. Amongst the latest charters is the Bteamer Clan Ogilvy, 5100 tons, to load at New York ■ for New, Zealand ports. She will bring out a cargo of case oil. An English paper cites the case of a Greek, who, early in 1912, purchased a British steamer of about 6000 tons for close on £25,000, paying £9OOO in cash and leaving the balance on mortgage. After running her for about three years, the Greek decided to dispose of her, the profit 011 the running and the sale bringing in £72,000. On an original outlay of £9OOO the deal was a good one for the speculator. The steamer Walton Hall, 4932 tons, has been chartered to load general cargo at New York for New Zealand and Australian ports. She is expected to sail in the course of a month or so.
