FIRES.
OKOROIRE HOTEL DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association Auckland, Yesterday. The Okoroire Springs Hotel was totally destroyed b*y fire at 5.30 this morning. Thirty guests escaped safclv. The sanatorium was saved, after strong efforts. . Mr. Griffiths, owner of the hotel, states that he was awakened at 5.30 a.m., and saw from iiis bedroom window Humes rising from the roof above the billiardroom. By the time he had aroused the hoarders and got outside the whole hotel seemed ablaze. AH escaped in the most scanty clothing and with few personal belongings. The building was valued at .t'liOOO. The insurances on the building. furnishings, and stock total £3OOO in the United Insurance Company,
