(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Monday. Practically the whole population of Stratford turned out last night to welcome the returning boys from the front, the railway station was lined with people, and great was the disappointmer'- when it was discovered that none of V ,'oeal boys were on the special train. Mr. J. 0." Taylor, of Inglewood, who was on board with his son (who had returned), ; thanked the public for the reception accorded them all along the line, and explained that the reason there were not more, boys in the train was that the Department have given them the option of staying in Wellington for a few days, and most of them had accepted the invitation. The (Patriotic Market on Saturday closed its doors at 5 o'clock reporting "all sold." The ladies had a very busy day, and over £ls was netted for the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Next Saturday, Mesdames Sangster and McQuay ari opening the market, the proceeds to go towards equipping the country stall at the bazaar that is being held in connection with the Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Walshe leave on Thursday on a holiday visit to Australia. Mr. R. B. Anderson, secretary of the A.W.R. Milking Machine Company, was married this afternoon to Jliss Elsie Curtis, eldest daughter of Mrs. 0. M. Curtis. Rev, J. Patteson officiated.
