The Trades and Labor Council unanimously passed a resolution last night that the council congratulates the wealthy land-owners, merchants and manufacturers of this country on having a Government that, when formulating taxation proposals, so carefully conaiders their interests and desires. SLY-GKOG SELLING Taumarunui, Friday. At the; monthly sitting of the Taumarunui Court Mr. Hewitt, the new magistrate, was welcomed by Mr. Shrirtland, senior member of the bar. Paddy Pullen, Lester Hunter, Michael O'Brien, John Holmes, and Richard King were each fined £4O and costs for sly-grog selling. JoTin Henderson was fined £lO and costs for introducing liquor into a kisnga. A milkman was also fined £5 for watering milk. FAJ&IERS' UNI<!>N ON TAXATION. Palmerston N., Friday. Af a meeting of the provincial executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, held here to-day, the question of the new Budget was discussod, and the following resolution was carried: "That the Wellington executive of the union wishes to express to the National Government their loyal support in this time of national crisis, trusting that'in their necessary taxation proposals they will keep in view equality of sacrifice by all sections of the community, the farmers being entirely willing to boar their fair share in such sacrifice." DOMINION EXPORTS. Wellington, Friday. New Zealand products exported during the week elided Tuesday last were valued as follows:—Butter £2871; cheese £19,078; frozen lamb £74,894; frozen mutton £173,149; frozen beef, etc., £13,360; gold £4095, grain and pulse '£2461, hides and skins £35,374, kauri gum £1554, flax and tow £39,319, tallow £18,070, timber £11,212, wool '£82,380.
