'.TRADES UNION CONGRESS. London, Sept. 10. The Trades Union Congress protested against the rise in the cost of living due to private speculation, and ur<red the Government to control supplies of necessaries and to appoint a committee including labor representatives, to fix the retail price. The conference urged that women employed in war services should join trade unions and demand equal pay for equal work. Mr, Ramsay Mac Donald conveyed to the congress fraternal greetings on behalf of the Parliamentary Labor Party. He said they all agreed that it was the duty of every citizen to uphold the national honor at the present moment. The nation demanded the best they could do. London, Sept, 11. Mr. Hodge, presiding at a meeting of the Socialist National Defence Committee, at Bristol, referred to the intrigue; of pacificists, and said he regretted the action of llr. Ram'sav MacDonald and others. IE these people continued as they had been doing, trade unionists must clear them out from the Labor Party. A resolution- was passed repudiating these intrigues .as disloyal alike to the workers and to the nation.
