MINERS' CONGRESS.
[against the iujgistration bill. By Telegraph.—Press Association. 1 Cbristchurch, Friday. A conference of delegates from different miners' unions of the Dominion opened at the Trades Hall to-day. It was decided not to admit the Press. Members of the conference were welcomed to Christchurch by Mr. C. Kenn, president of the Canterbury Trades and Labor Council. The Puponga Miners' Union, by 64 votes to 5, decided to affiliate with the Miners' Federation. The following resolution was passed: "That this conference of delegates, representing coal miners' unions' at Huntly, Kaitangata, Nightcaps, Green Island, Teawatea, Homebush, Millerton, State mines, Stockton, Denniston, Paparoa, Blackball and Waronui emphatically protests against the National Registration Bill, AVe consider that the questions in clause 4 are impertinent, and submit that the Bill is a form of oonswfption, and an insidious effort to strike st the liberty of the people, and, further, we declare that it interferes with the sanctity of the home and permits of discrimination."
