IN GERMANY.
RAISING A WAR LOAN. STATE EMPLOYEES HARD HIT. Berne, Sept. 8. Germany is making extraordinary efforts to secure the success of the war loan. All the State employees, workmen and schoolmasters, in the Grand Dutfhy of Baden, have been invited to subscribe one-fourth of their annual salaries through the State banks, which will make the necessary advances, receiving monthly repayments till October, 1917.
CANNOT BE STARVED OUT. INDUSTRIES SUPPLY THE ARMY. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received Sept. 9, 4.55 p.m. London, Sept. 8. A Swedish journalist writes from Ger'many saying that Germany cannot be starved out within a measurable period. Her industries can supply the German armies, and they have found substitutes for the material whereof supplies are exhausted.
