The President of the New South Wales Alliance considers that the nine o'clock resolution passed in the Assembly is a distinct encouragement, because it shows a great step ill advance. At the same time he regards it as an attempt to put aside the six o'clock closing movement. The president of the Licensed Victuallers' Association is greatly disappointed ; they expected ten o'clock closing. He says that if the resolution is carried into law it will ruin many publicans and eau-e increased drunkenness. ANOTHER TRAGEDY. Sydney, Sept. 9. A tragedy has occurred at Orange, whore Charles Jenkins shot his wife
dead. He surrendered himself to the police. The tragedy was the finale to frequent quarrels,
