A LEAD BY WANGANUI.
PAVILION AT NEW CONVALESCENT CAMP,

Yesterday afternoon Mr. Hope Gib bons, of Wanganui, together with Hon. G. Carson, M.L.C., and Mr. W. Veiteh, M.P., waited on the Minister of Public Health to ask what could he done by Wanganui for the benefit of returning wounded soldiers. He expressed a desire that additional hospital accommodation should be accepted as Wanganui's contribution. Hon. G. W. Russell thanked .rMr, Giibbons, for the patriotic sentiments of Wanganui, expressed by him, but said the Government had already in sight, in the hospitals Jof; the country, all the accommodation re-! quired .for sjMnc time to come, lie would,! however, if Wanganui would consent to devote a sura towards the establishment and equipment of the con--valescent camp to be established on Pukeroa Hill, Rotorua. For £SOO pro-, vision would be made for 25 troopers., Mr. Gibbon 9 said that Wanganui would? subscribe that sum for the purpose, andj Hon. Mr. Russell thanked him for tjie) offer, which he accepted. The pavilipng to be erected would be known as tliej Wanganui pavilion, and ha trusted; other centres would follow the fine le'fidj set by that town. ■ (
