EFFECTIVES SHORT. ENEMY CASUALTIES INCREASING. Received Sept. 5. 3.10 p.m. Paris, Sept. 4. Official: A German officer states that the enemy casualties latterly have greatly increased. They reached on June Ist -1:1,972; and on July lfi, 52,041. Germany is now making a return of men from forty-six to fifty years of age. There are indications that she is preoccupied with the difficult question of effectives after twelve months' war, and her prodigality in the waste of human life. The only men at her disposal, according to the Journal de Geneva, are the 1917 class less those l who have volunteered.
