ROVERETO EVACUATED. MONUMENTS DESTROYED. Received Sept. 3, 10.30 p.m. Rome, Sept. 3. The Austrians have evacuated Rovereto, after destroying historic monuments. IN THE TYROL. AUSTRIAN REINFORCEMENTS. Received Sept. 3, 10.30 p.m. Geneva, Sept. 3. Two hundred thousand Austrian reinforcements, chiefly of the 1897 class, have been sent to the Tyrol' and Trentino, along with eighty new batteries of guns. AUSTRIANS LOSING HEART. : EXHAUSTED BY FIGHTING. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, September 2. The Italians found on Austrian prisoners a commander's message stating that the officers and men were physically exhausted. The officers fighting since July were suffering from nervous crises and the losses were heavy. General Oadorna concludes that this is evidence of moral depression in the Austrian Army and urges the Italians to pereevere in their efforts to overcome the Austrian resistance where it is still possible owing to the strength of their positions.
