Apparently the only complaints in Xcw Guinea are inability to return to Germany and lack of means. There is general contentment hi the Caroline, .Marianne, and Marshall Island-?, where the missionaries state tiiat many Japanese are arriving, but are treating the Germans well. British officials in Samoa are credited with trying to divert trade to Australia and British possessions. German colonists are coii'.'iuced that the conquest is temporary and that Gcrmanv is sure te win and return. The wives of official, interned in Auckland state that the latter are comfortable. SWISS GERMANS CALLED UP. NO NEWS OF FORMER RECRI'iTS. Berne, Seplemlier 2. Twelve thousand Germans in Switzerland previously reported unfit for physical reasons have been recalled to Germany for service. Relations are anxious as to. the fate of earlier recruits, as no casualties of the Germans from Switzerland have been published since November.
