TAKATA DAIRY CO. 'flic eighteenth annual report of the Tarutu. Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., to be submitted to the shareholders at their meeting in the Taff&ta Hall on Saturday next, states that the amount of butter made was 48 tons l&cwt lqr 221b, and that out of the surplus of £389 6s 8d it was proposed to pay another penny ,per 11> of butter-fat, absorbing £339 &i (id. The amount of milk received was 1,355,SfM'.b, cream 108,4011b, butter-fat in milk 53,3571b, and in cream 3.9.8811b. The average test of the milk waa 3.94, that of (lie <rcam 36.7, the over-run being 16.6. The total average payments per lb of butter-fat, including'bonus, worked out at 12.71 d. The balance-sheet sho<vs that the 'paidup share capital of the company stands at £llO7 0a 7d, while tihe assets amount to £1740 Is M. The cost of running the factory was £382 10s lid, administration and selling expenses being £893 -3s 9d, including £2l 10s to the Empire Defence Fund, depreciation allowed for being £l4B 6s 9d. The total receipts were £0557 19s lOd.

KAUPOKONUI HERD-TESTING. The following is n summary of ,th» Kaupokonui Cow-testing Association ioi the period ending August 22, 1915:

The average Association cow gave S4slbs milk. 3.9 test, 33.541bs butter-fat. The lest cow gave lfl'Olba milk, 5.4 test, 87.481bs butter-fat. The worst cow gave >33olbs milk, 2.6 test, S.oSlba butter-fat. CLYDESDALE HOUSE SOCIETY. A meeting of the general purposes committee of the council of the Clydesdale Horse Society, of Xew Zealand was he!»l at Dunedin on August 20. Affiliation—The Auckland A. and P. Association and the Thames Valley A.P. and 11. Association, Te Ardha, were affiliated. Award.* of Medals.—The Taieri Agricultural Society advised that the winner of the affiliation medal at tlie show last year was Mr. James Patrick, Lee Creek, Outram, with "Sir William"; the Strath Taieri A. and P. Society that the winner of the medal at their show in April last was J. T. Tlsdall, Middlemafth. The secretary of the Ilawke's Bay A. and P. Society wrote accepting the Union Company's 50gn. challenge cup for competition among marcs at their spring show in October. . 'Prefixes.—The following applications fo- prefixes were granted:— "Brookdale," applied for by K. Wilson, Brookdale, Backs: "Meadowbank," applied for by Patrick Small, Meadowbank, Tinwahf; and "Trehuvney," applied for by Wm. C. Xieiiolls, Del fast, Xorth Canterbury. PEDIGREE JERSEY SALE. An important sale of pedigree Jersey cattle will be held by the Xew Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., at Tattersall's, Haw-era, on Wednesday next. The whole of Mr. Charles fioodson's pedigree stock will be disposed of. This lot comprises twelve cowi? and heifers, mostly in calf to the well-known imported sire The Squire; aiso nine youngpedigree bulls by Campanile Sultan (imp.), The Squire (imp.), and Beauty Sultan. Some ehoire stock will also he offered on account of other vendors, including three yearling pedigree Jersey bulls by Molina's General (imp.), bred by Messrs Wren Bros., Tokaora. Dairy fanners requiring high-class Jersey cattle' should attend this sale.
