ARRIVED. Gnehunga, August 28. —Arrived, at 9 a.m., Karawa, from New Plyimouth. Port Ahuriri, August 28.—Arrived, it 3 a.m., Kaitnagata from Newcastle. Wellington, August 28—Arrived, at 7 a.m., Mapourika, from New Plymouth. THE lONIC. Melbourne, August 28. The loivic, bound for Auckland, has passed Wilson's Promontory. VICTORIA LAID OT. Wellington, August 2S. The steamer Victoria is to be laid up. The local manager says the Buddart Parker Co. will not yield to the cxorbifcant demands of the men. -and Jia-ve instructed him to discharge the cargo and all hands. The vessel will land here ttbout I>ooo tons of cargo destined for other New Zealand ports. The men were to-day offered £5 each, together with full wages from Wellington to Sydney and back. This they refused. Some ® men arc involved. If a new crew can be obtained the vessel will be despatched to Napier, Gisbome, Auckland, and Sydney. Meanwhile Gisborna wiill be isolmied, except for the intermediate boat. Legal proceedings against the men for striking are contemplated by the Labor Department. EXPECTED ARRIVALS. Rarawa, from nortli, Tuesday. OVERSEA VESSELS. Waimate, sailed from Liverpool June 4, due Wellington, August 12. Whakatane, sailed from Montreal June 7, due Wellngton August 23.
