A Sydney message announces the death of Mr. Frank Badgery, member of the Assembly and a well-known pastoraalisrt. Dr. William C. Burns, of Timaru, hoi obtained a commission as lieutenant in the R.A.M.C., and is going to Alder9hot. At St. Joseph's Church, Eltham, on Wednesday last, Mr. William Pook, of Eltham, was married to Misa Lena Lahrke, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Prank Lehrke. Mr. H. G. Hall, general manager of the Bristol and Dominions Producers' Association and chairman of the Wellington Patriotic Society, is on a short visit to Niew Plymouth. Private Clyde Kennedy, who was killed at the Dardanelles, was a member of the Stratford Fire Brigade. On Friday evening the Ml was tolled, and the membeiy stood with heads bowed as a token of respeet to his memory. Mr. H. Burdokin, who lias been commercial master at the Wanganm Technical College since he resigned his position with Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, of Eltham, has received a similar appointment at tho Christchureh Technical College. Messrs Fj N. Fussell and G. D. Hunter, of Stratford, have been appointed noncommissioned officers for the Bth reinforcements, and leave for Trentliam shortly. At the Xew Plymouth Brotherhood yesterday afternoon a resolution of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Sergeant R. G. Sole, Private A. V. Carbines, and Private C. Crone, who have been killed in action at the Dardanelles Private 11. G. Fearon, who was killed at the Dardanelles, was well known in Stratford. He was a brother of Mr. Barney Fearon, manager of Mr. Xewton King's Kaponga branch. "Jimmy," as he was called, was s fine follow, and represented the Stratford Club in the football field. Hon. R. H, Rhodes, who has been appointed by the Government to viat Egypt to report on the administration of mattc.Rs there in connection with sick and wounded soldiers, wi l leave for Sydney en route to Egypt by the Mocraki on Thursday next. Hiley, of the Xew Zealand Railway Battalions, and director of railway transport, has been appointed Director of Campi and Barrack Construction, and attached to the Quarter-master-General's branch at headquarters wMle so employed.
