QUEEN CARNIVAL RECORD
OTAGO GETS £150,000. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The Queen Carnival competition which has been in progress for about three months, with the object of rajs* ing money for the Wounded SokUertf Fund, closed to-night, in ■ the presence; of a large crowd. The results are im complete, but at 11.45 the amount in hand was £125,093, to which has to fa added about £SOO. In addition there 1% .1:15,381 from the Patriotic Association! now in the hands of the Town Clerk, and the amount received for the Queen 1 Fund has to be added to from other; sources of revenue. The first place in. the Queen Competition is secured by the , Country Queen (Miss Smith). Th» North Otago Queen (Mrs. J. C. Nich. oils) is assured of second place, and the, Sports Queen (Miss MoLean) third. Oainaru, Lost Night.
In the Queen Carnival competition il North 1 Otago section of the Otago Car nival, this district raised £17,400, whiel is equal to over one pound per head (K the population of the whole county.
