FRENCH SUCCESSES. Received August 25, 10.20 p.m. ,' Paris, August 25. A communique states: There has been incessant lighting in the Argonne district. Seven of our aeroplanes dropped eighty projectiles on the stations at Tergnier and Noyon, and several fires broke out at Tergnier. FRENCH REPORT. Paris, August 24. A communique says:—There has been violent fighting on the heights eastward of the Northern Fecht. German coun-ter-attacks at Schratzmanelle and Barreukopf and the crests of Sondernach were repulsed. AX EMPTY HONOR. Received August 25, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, August 24. The Kaiser has conferred the Order of Merit on Prince Rupprecht. This is regarded as an effort to mollify him after his quarrel with the German Crown Prince because the latter received reinforcements intended for Prince Rupprecht, who was hard pressed in the Argonne. FOOD FOR BELGIUAL Havre, August 24. The National Revietualling Committee has learned from the Spanish and United States Ministers at Brussels that the Germans will leave this year's crops for feeding the people. The' committee has arranged to ensure tlie necessary supply of provisions to feed the population.
