TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") The entries received on Monday evening for the Wanganui Jockey Club's spring meeting fall short of last year's total by about thirty, but nevertheless they are very satisfactory. The principal drop is in the hack flat events, but the best performers in this class on the coast are engaged, the missing ones comprising in the main that class of hack not worth feeding in these days of highpriced oats. As usual, Taranald stables are well represented, amongst those entered for the open flat races being Lady Middleton, Glenroy, Zion, Astor, Tree Lucerne, Tneuru, Fortify, and Sunbird, while High Jinks, Camp Guard, Flying Gamp, Bivouac, Coropet, Welcome Nugget, and Cordon figure in the hack fiat events, and Royal' Anns. Sljw:, Cornelian, Glacier, Calais, and lessor lights have been entered for the jumping events. The gathering promises to have very much of a Tarannki flavor. Mr Geo. Morse will declare his weights for the first day's open events on Friday, September 10," and weights for minor events are due a week later.

The Egmont-Wanganui Hunt meeting will take place on the Waverley racecourse to-morrow. Good fields are assured .and the racing should be worth watching. The steeplechase course at Waverley look 9 very stiff, and only good jumpers will have a chance there.
