XEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The first round of the men's championship of the New Plymouth Club was played on Saturday afternoon. The matches resulted:— K S. Bay ley beat H. F. Dodson, 3 up and 2. W. V. Niooll beat L. Clarke, 0 and 5. P. S. Johns beat Rev. A. B. Chappell, 0 and S. J. IX Scott beat I). Hutchea, 4 and 2. A. Bewley beat R. T. MeQuade, 2 up. H. J. yi. Thomson beat W. G. Douglas, 2 and 1. A. H. Steeds beat K. B. Bain, 3 and 1. J. Austin, a bye. The second round will be played next Saturday, the draw being as follows: E. S. Bayley plays W. P. Nicoll, F. S. Johns plays ,7. D. Scott, A. Bewley plays H. ,7. M. Thomson, and A. H. Steeds! plays J. Austin. WITIORA CLUB. Only one match in the first round of the Witiora men's championship has been pluyed, V. 11. Beal defeating A. K. Smart, 4 up and 3. On Saturday a mixed foursomes flag mate> was played. Twelve pairs took 'part, and the winners were Miss Gilbert and .1. D. Sole, who placed their flag a stroke away from the nineteenth green,
