MOTUROA FAVORED BY ELTHAM. The merits and demerits of Patea and .Moturoa as a port for the shi[.' ment of dairy produce from Elthaiu formed the subject of brief discussion at the meeting of the Eltham Dairy Company on Saturday. The chairman (Mr. 11. D. Kor.syth) admitted that that was so, but he said that he was satisfied that they had done right in shipping at Moturoa. The facilities were better in every direction, and shipping was more regular. The boats were never held-up on the liar, and there was a distinct advantage in/the matter of cool storage. At Moturoa the cheese was cool stored and placed direct into the cool storage on the boat, whence it was loaded over the side into the Home boats. Via Patea, the cheese was unloaded on to the wharf where there was no cool storage, and the Wellington Harbor Board wanted up to lis per ton to provide cool storage. He was satisfied that they had done the best Ihing. (Applause). Mr. Riddle said that at the time of the strike Xormnnhv had to ship through Moturoa. Their stuff did not reach Home until two boats after the Patea shipment, and thev consequently lost £2OO.
