PATRIOTIC CONCERT. Last Wednesday evening a very enjoyable concert was held and arranged by Miss Stanford and her pupils, past and present, at Chelwode School, in aid of No. 1 Stationary Hospital. The first part of the evening comprised a musical programme, items being rendered by Misses C. Leatham, B. Hirst, M. Atkinson, K. Thompson. F. Matthews, E. Carthew, Z. Saxton, E. Baily, E. Blundell, V. Webster and M. Russell. Then followed a musical play called "Maid Marion; or the Rose of Love," the characters of which were taken by Misses E. Campbell, K. Thomson, F. Matthews, M. Atkinson,, H. Tint, I. Burke, L. Knight, N. Thomson and E. Carthew. Between the acts a minuet and two country dances were danced by a band of little maidens, instructed by Miss Dampney, who accompanied the play with the violin, Miss Hirst presiding at the piano. Amotngst those present were: Mesdames Chancy, S. Shaw, Eberlot, Carver, Heard, Paul, Bennett (Blenheim), Thomson, Dowling, F. Webster, and Misses Stanford (2), Leatham (2), L. AFTERNOON TEA. A very jolly little afternoon lea was given by Mrs. Hugh Baily last Tuesday, each guest bringing her sewing. Amongst those present were: Mesdames E.
