ENTERTAINMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURES. The new change of programme presented last night featured "The Warrior Maid," the tenth series of the Selig Company's sensational wild animal drama. Kathlyn and her friends, having escaped from the ainpithcatrc, seek refuge at the residence of their banker acquaintance. The banker organises a revolution against the perfidious Umballali, and Kathlyn, garfied in ar. ancient warrior's armor suit, leads a successful attack on the palace. Umbalah .escapes, and a den of lions is opened, and the raging beasts cause Kathlyn and the revolutionarie: to vacate the palace. Kathlyn takes refuge in a deserted house, with the lions in pursuit. lmliallah, having located Kathlyn, drives the lions away, and sets lire to the building, while Kathlyn calls for help from a balcony overhead. The eleventh section of tlie film will be shown next Thursday. Other new items comprise "Another Chance 1 ' (Majestic drama), ."The Australian Gazette" (topical), "A Devil of a Honeymoon'' (trick comedy), "The Little Engineer'' (Kalem drama), "A Canine Rival" (Edison comedy), "The Bear's Omelette" (Cines cartoons), and "Hogan's Wild Oats" (a Keystone comedy).
ROYAL PICTURES. For to-morrow's change at the Theatre Royal the management announces extra special pictures, with a Majestic drtuna extraordinaire at the head of the list. The big feature is "The Green Idol/' described as "a sensational mystic play,," teeming with dramatic situations and exciting events, revolving around the machinations of a Hindu nrch-hypoerile, in connection with an Oriental cult devoted to the worship of a green heathen god. A spell is cast over a neurotic Englishwoman, and before her rescue is accomplished many thrilling episodes are enacted. The Royal programme always includes a popular Keystone comedy. This one is "Wilful Ambrose," whoso mission is to create fun and dispel gloom. "In the French Lines at Rhcims" shows actual war incidents in and around that. French Cathedral city. "In Jungle Wilds" is an exciting 'play of adventure arul love by tlie famous "101 Bison Co." Among other excellent films is the latest Australian Gazette. . On Monday anil Tuesday a complete change of programme will he presented, the feature drama being Klaw and Krlanger's notable three-part production, "The Wife." It is an. play with-a strong plot. Wherever shown this film has attracted capacity houses. Scats may be reserved at Hoffmann's.
