At ivovuo, after desperate batttles lasting for eleven days, and coating them enormous losses, the Germans succeeded in establishing themselves in the fortifications left of the Niemen, and westward of the river Jeisia. The Germans are now attempting to the right of this position, where the east defence works are still in our hands. We hold all the fortifications on the right bank of the Nkmen, < There has been continuous fighting on the IVarcw front, and between the Narew and the Bug, with alternating success. The enemy made very stubborn attae-ks on the roads to Bielostok and Bielsk from the west, and also on. the northeastern front of Novo Gcogievsk, principally ou the fortifications commanding the railway from Ul&va.
