SUCCESS AT CARSO. ADVANCE IX MONTENEGRIN SECTOR. Received August 19, 10.43 p.m. Rome, August 19. Odicinl: We captured a second line of trenches in fiacher Valley (Si-xtea region), jur troops in the Montenegro Sector are advancing towards the Yarsix crest. Towards Javcpiek we expelled the enemy from their trenches, and we occupied several trenches on Santa Lucia height, prisonering two hundred. The attack on Carso was a brilliant success. The enemy's violent attack on our centre was checked and we won some ground, enabling us to occupy an important position westward of Marcottini. AUSTRIAN REPORT. Received August 10, 11.45 p.m. Amsterdam, August 19. An Austrian communique says:— Bitter fighting is raging around Tolmino bridgehead, where four Italian attacks failed.
