Leinster newspapers say that in response to a "missing friends" advertisement a soldier named Staunton has •written home from France and declares that he is the sole survivor of the Waratah. Dr. .Bray, who is in charge of the venereal clinic at Prince Alfred Hospital, gave some startling evidence before the Secret (Disease Commission. JVom January till the end of June 1320 cases were treated. Patients wore constantly sent away 'because it was impossible to accommodate them. Now it had been arranged tb«t 500 should be treated weekly. Many respectable marriedf women were infected innocently, and a great number ,of children were treated. Twenty to twenty-five under ten yedw of age were treated weekly until recently.
