The steamer Otaki, which arrived from London to-day, received the Benalla's s.o.s. call, and stood by until she was informed that further assistance was not needed. Two days later the Ot:iki encountered a hurricane, lasting for 'Hi hours. Hugo" waves washed the decks every minute, and about two hundred packages of cargo that were stowed en deck were washed overboard. The waves were washing into the carpenter's shop, and Hooded nearly all the officers' rooms, and damaged the main deck fixtures, sli.-h as rails, ladders, etc. The lust car-o was mainly calcium of carbide and varnish consigned to Blurt'.
