AN EFFECTIVE SCHEME.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. : Wellington, Last Night, A statement lias been published in a number of newspapers to the effect that the compilation of the national register will be directed by the Hon. A. M. Myers (Minister of Munitions and Supplies). It is true tliat very important work in relation to supplies for the Defence Department will bo supervised by Mr. Myers, but the administrative duties in connection with the national register are among the Prime Minister's responsibilities. Every care will bo taken t« obtain the necessary information' promptly, reliably, and economically. II is understood that the methods will l> an improvement on the Australia) scheme, which depends upon proclamtt tion, ajid people are summoned to regta< ter themselves, subject to a penaJty foi non-compliance.
