The Prime Minister, who has in hand the arrangements for the preparation of the proposed national register, stated today that a Bill had been drafted, and w as now ready for submission to Cabinet, lie expected that it would he placed hefore Parliament at an early date. Mr. Massey mentioned that the work in connection with the register would be undertaken by the Registrar-General's Department. The Prime Minister, had nothing to say with regard to tiie bearing of the national register upon the recruiting problem. The purpose of the register, he said, was to place the Government in possession of reliable information concerning the number of men of military ago available in the dominion, and their condition with regard to employment, dependents, and so 011.
