IN THE BALTIC. NAVAL BATTLE REPORTED: " HERMAN SHIPS SUFFER. Received August 15, 3 pin. London, August 14. Renter states that it is unofficially reported at Petrograd that a naval battle took place near Ossel on August 12. A large German cruiser was destroyed, and several warships were damaged severely. It is surmised that the enemy's purpose was to bottle up the Russian fleet in the Gulf of Finland and Bothnia. SINKING OF THE INDIA. A PROTEST FROM NORWAY. Received August 15, 3 p.m. Christiana, August 14.

Fjord, which is Norwegian territory throughout its entire length. AT HOBOKEN. ACTIVITY IN SUBMARINE BUILDING. Received August 15, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, August 14. The Telegraaf's special correspondent visited the German submarine yards at Hobokcn. Sine* March 19 new submarines have been constructed. British airmen almost entirely destroyed one on April 20, two have been launched and are now in service, and the remainder are rapidly approaching completion. Since the successful British attack every possible precaution was taken against aerial bombs. The yard was roofed wij;h steel plating, and covered with sandbags. Only the hulls were constructed at Hoboken, all the interior part 9 being made in Germany.
One submarine from Hoboken has already been lost. She was called Kaiser Wilhelm "the Second, and carried three officer, one petty officer, and twelve men.
THE TORPEDOES' TOLL,
ANOTHER GERMAN 1 BAG. , London, Aug. 13. The Grimsby trawler Thrush lias been sunk. Tier erew were in the boats from Monday to Thursday, ami when reseucxT were terribly exhausted. The steamer Riimmerfield was sunk, and the chief engineer and chief officer and his wife were drowned. Tlie steamer Jaeona and the Norwegian steamer Aura have also been sunk. Received August 15, 3.50 p.m. London, August 14. The Glasgow steamer Cairo and the fishing smack Amethyst have been sunk. The crews were saved. DANISH VESSEL SUNK. Copenhagen, August 14. The Danish barque Morna lias been sunk. The crew landed.
