■ Miss Xorah Dempsey, of the nursing stall of the Auckland"Hospital, is on a visit to her home in New Plymouth on account of ill-health. Mrs. and Miss Arndt (Wellington) are the guests of Mrs. Phil Nathan, the former's daughter. His. Walkington (Waverley) is the guest of Mrs. Alexander. 'Mr. and Mrs. Knight (Hawera), wio have been on a short visit to New (Plymouth, have returned.
Miss Colgan (Auekhuid), who has'been holiday-making in New 'Plymouth, has left for Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams (Auckland) are at present in New Plymouth.
Mr. and Mrs. Hatcliard liave returned to Wellington after tiieir pleasant visit to Xcw Plymouth.

The slaving of Moffat's Scotch play, '•Bunty Pulls" the Strings" at the Theatre Royal, New IPlymouth, on Monday, should prove attractive to the ladies of the district, if only to contrast the costumes with tho=e at present in vogue, but there is an adidtional interest, by reason of (lie strings being pulled by a lady, Miss Jean Clyde, who is sure to make a big hit in her clever performance.
Another of a scric; of evenings given by the Xew Plymouth HU'li .School Ola Gills' Association was given at Mrs. L. B. Webster's residence last Thursday. A bridge competition was held and resulted in Mrs. Harry, Stoeker winning the first prize, with Mrs. H. B. Thomson second. Miss Coklwater won the consolation prize. Euchre prizes were won by Miss A. Bollingej and iMiss K. Howell.

A DAFFODIL TEA. Last Thursday afternoon, in the flood Templar Hall, a '-Daffodil Tea'' was held, under the auspices of the Xew Plymouth branch of the Victoria League, in aid of Xo. 1 Stationary Hospital. The president (Mrs, C. 11. Burgess) is to be heartily congratulated on the great success it proved, and it is expected that a good sum will be realised for the fund. It was- thought by many when this floral tea was first suggested that the date fixed would be too early for these lovely spring flowers, hut such was ilot the ease, as was shown on Thursday afternoon. Masses of daffodils seemed to meet one on every side, while a bevy of girls carried basket loads for sale.
