WAIMATE IN A STORM.

Large ipianl.ilies oi water found their way into the hold. and it is feared that a iarge portion of the cargo has been badly damaged. The weather gradually improved, nnd as the Witinmte had run short of b„.il;er coal a call was made at Hobart to obtain supplies. An examination of No. 3 hold of i],,.\ sieamer Waimate shows that a lapv' mimber of cases are pretty well ml.uvuted with sea water. The cargo in this hold is:—Hs Urns I'm- Auckland, s:)2 lor ; Wellington, 7 for LvllcHuii, and (Ml foi 1 Diuiedin, Probably the Ibmedin cargo suffered most.
